Isolated posterior uveal effusion: expanding the spectrum of the uveal effusion syndrome
Uveal effusion syndrome usually causes peripheral chorioretinal detachment, but posterior effusion may present as isolated macular edema with serous macular detachment in the setting of hyperopia and a thickened posterior choroid. Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors may be effective to treat this condition.
متن کاملCastleman's Disease Presenting with Uveal Effusion Syndrome
We report a rare case of multicentric Castleman's disease that presented with ophthalmic involvement, along with a review of the literature. A 63-year-old male presented with decreased visual acuity in both eyes. Both eyes had serous elevations of the retinas with shifting subretinal fluid and annular choroidal detachment. No retinal breaks were found. Laboratory tests revealed pancytopenia, hy...
متن کاملSpectrum of Angle Closure, Uveal Effusion Syndrome, and Nanophthalmos
Nanophthalmos, uveal effusion syndrome, and acute angle closure glaucoma (ACG) can present as a continuum in a patient, as is described here. This patient's angle closure was thought to be caused by idiopathic uveal effusion syndrome, and while there are no generally accepted diagnosis criteria for nanophthalmos, our patient fulfilled the criteria as defined by Wu.10 To prevent development of f...
متن کاملChoroidal findings in idiopathic uveal effusion syndrome
PURPOSE We report choroidal findings by means of enhanced depth imaging spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) in a patient with idiopathic uveal effusion syndrome (IUES). CASE REPORT A 41-year-old man was referred to us with ciliochoroidal and non-rhegmatogenous retinal detachments. Sclerectomies and sclerostomies were performed at the equator in the lower quadrants, resultin...
متن کاملTwo Cases of Uveal Effusion Syndrome
PURPOSE To report a case of uveal effusion syndrome associated with hypotony and a case of uveal effusion syndrome in nanophthalmos. METHODS The first case was a 25-year-old man who presented with decreased visual acuity in the left eye and hypotony. Fundus examination revealed choroidal effusion and retinal detachment with a thickened eyeball. Partial thickness sclerotomy and sclerectomy wer...
